Our motivation
Optimistic and dreamers: this is the way we can define ourselves. People connected by the will to make a difference in others lives. Lovers of nature, art and the culture of people from Minas Gerais and Brazil.
Our History
We started as partners of “Raizes Turismo e Desenvolvimento Local”, a company that works with consultancy in tourism and local development since 2006. We believe that the sustainable development of tourism can have as consequence both economic and social growth, with the distribution and the permanence of the results on the destination.
In 2009, Raizes Turismo e Desenvolvimento Local won a “sister”, Raizes Artesanato that have a focus on the solidarity handcraft business. The new company was created by Mariana Madureira and Marianne Costa inspired on their dream and their desire to value the local culture, leading the development to places where the tourism and others sustainable alternatives are difficult to be implemented.
Our company
Raizes Artesanato is a social business of solidarity handcraft commerce. We want to spread the traditional communities’ culture and the handcrafted work of organized groups, contributing to raise the income for the artisans, that generally have a restrict access to the consumer market.
We are the connection between the traditional communities and the smart consumer!
We also follow the principles of the fair trade, considering that we have the mission to properly distribute the profits among all participants of the chain: recognizing the work of the artisans and generating resources to continue their art; offering the product with quality and a fair price for the smart consumers; and means to allow the project Raizes, the connection between this relationship, to grow with sustainability.
